Experience Required : graduate Mechanical / Metallurgical Engineer -10 -15 Years of experience Certifications: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or CSWIP 3.1, along with ASNT NDT Level II in multiple methods. Code Knowledge: Expertise in structural and piping codes such as AWS D1.1, API RP 2A , API 2W Technical Tools: Proficiency with Weld Gauges, hi-lo gauges, pyrometers (for temperature), and ultrasonic thickness meters. Personal Attributes: Must possess high integrity, objectivity, and strong communication skills to manage disputes between the client and the manufacturer. Years of Experience: 10- 15 yrs Key Work Environments Pipe Mills: Inspecting large-scale production of LSAW or HSAW pipes Offshore Yards: Verifying tubular components for platform jackets and subsea structures.

Welded Tubular Mill Inspector
Core Responsibilities
  • Documentation Review: Verifies that Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) are approved and current.
  • Material Verification: Checks raw material certifications (MTCs) and heat numbers to ensure tubular steel meets the specified grades (e.g., API 5L, ASTM, API 2W
  • In-Process Monitoring:
    • Fit-Up Inspection: Measures bevel angles, root gaps, and alignment (hi-lo) before welding starts.
    • Welding Parameter Checks: Monitors amperage, voltage, travel speed, and interpass temperatures to ensure compliance with the WPS.
  • Visual & Dimensional Inspection:
    • Inspects completed welds for defects like cracks, porosity, undercut, or incomplete penetration.
    • Verifies physical dimensions, including wall thickness, out-of-roundness, and length against approved drawings.
  • NDT Witnessing: Supervises and reviews Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) results, such as Radiography (RT), Ultrasonic (UT), and Magnetic Particle (MPI) testing.
  • Reporting: Issues formal Inspection Visit Reports (IVR) and final “Release Notes” confirming that the product is accepted for shipment.
